John Harbaugh: ‘No doubt’ Keenan Reynolds will be a very good WR
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Even though the Baltimore Ravens cut Keenan Reynolds before the start of the season, the team’s confidence in his development hasn’t wavered.
Reynolds, a rookie sixth-round pick by the Ravens, has been making strides on the team’s practice squad. The former Navy quarterback is working hard to make the transition to NFL receiver and returner.
“There’s no doubt in my mind Keenan Reynolds is going to be a very good receiver in this league,” coach John Harbaugh said during the team’s bye week.
During the summer, Reynolds struggled to get open as a receiver and continually had problems fielding kicks as a returner. In four preseason games, he had only one catch for two yards.
But the Ravens believe Reynolds will turn the corner, and it shows in their investment. Baltimore is paying Reynolds more than anyone else on its practice squad. His $280,500 salary is $110,000 more than the other nine practice-squad players.
“He’s really making progress as a receiver,” Harbaugh said. “You probably saw some of the routes here at the end of practice that we worked on. He’s really smoothing things out. He’s certainly got a ways to go. I wouldn’t anoint him as that yet, but he’s definitely gotten there in punt returns as well. Although, he dropped a couple today, and I was all over him. But he is really working hard.”
