SECRETARY MABUS APPROVES KEENAN REYNOLDS TO PLAY IN NFL.

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 13, 2016 – Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus today submitted a request that Midshipman Keenan Reynolds satisfy his remaining commissioned service obligation in the Ready Reserve so Reynolds can play for the Baltimore Ravens this season.  Secretary Mabus also submitted a similar request for long snapper Joe Cardona to continue to play for the New England Patriots this year. Secretary Mabus has alerted Reynolds, Ravens coach John Harbaugh, and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti of his decision.

Secretary Mabus has strongly recommended that the requests be granted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, which grants final approval. Secretary Mabus said in a memo accompanying the requests that:

“Approval of these requests will provide the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy significant favorable exposure, enhance national recruiting, and serve as a positive ongoing contribution to DoD public affairs efforts.”

Reynolds is a Navy Midshipman and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round with the 182nd overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft. Reynolds is represented by ESQ Agency, a Nashville-based sports agency.
